Abundant Village and Mwani Zanzibar Sign Agreement to Support the Launch of ReGen Zanzibar

Abundant Village has partnered with Mwani Zanzibar to launch ReGen Zanzibar, a community-led marine regeneration initiative.

A NEW ERA FOR CHIZARIRA

Abundant Village is proud to announce the signing of a formal Memorandum of Understanding with Defend to support the long term restoration and protection of Chizarira National Park.

Chizarira National Park spans more than 1,900 square kilometers, approximately 469,500 acres, of rugged escarpment, deep gorges, vast savanna and critical wildlife corridors that anchor the Zambezi Valley. It is one of the most spectacular and least visited protected areas in Southern Africa. Elephant populations, a keystone indicator species for ecosystem health, had suffered more than 60 percent losses in recent decades. This partnership will help to continue turning the tide against poaching as species return as a stronghold for elephant, lion, leopard, hyena, and vital plains game that support the health of the entire regional ecosystem.

Through this new partnership, Abundant Village will work with Defend in revitalising Chizarira as one of the premier conservation destinations off the beaten track. This includes strengthening community partnerships, supporting anti-poaching operations, deploying female field staff, improving conservation infrastructure, enabling ecological monitoring, and building long term social impact systems that anchor conservation in daily life.

This partnership reflects the strengths of Abundant Village as a global organisation dedicated to community led conservation across some of the most important ecosystems on Earth. Our work in Southern Africa, East Africa, the Indian Ocean, and soon, the Amazon continues to show that conservation endures when local people see genuine benefit and shared purpose in protecting the natural world around them.

To drive this project forward, Abundant Village has launched a fundraising campaign with a 2026 target of US$2M. One generous donor has already pledged to match all contributions up to US$200,000 made before the end of December 2025. This match will significantly accelerate early momentum for the Chizarira initiative and position the project for success across ecological restoration, community development, and protected area strengthening.

Supporters can contribute through the Abundant Village website at www.abundantvillage.world

Abundant Village invites all partners, donors, and conservation allies to join us in bringing Chizarira back to life. This landscape has the potential to become one of Africas greatest comeback stories and a global symbol of what is possible when communities, conservationists, and governments unite behind a shared mission.
