Founder and Co-Director, Kalahari Research and Conservation
Dr Glyn Maude
Glyn is a wildlife researcher and conservationist and the founder and co-director of Kalahari Research and Conservation (KRC), Abundant Village's implementation partner on the ground in Botswana. Born in Zambia and raised in Zimbabwe, he studied zoology in the UK before moving to Botswana in 1997 to work as a guide at Jack's Camp in the Makgadikgadi Pans. He went on to complete a PhD on brown hyaenas and has spent more than two decades working to protect some of Africa's most iconic species.
Glyn leads KRC's research and conservation work across the arid Kalahari, including the Central Kalahari Game Reserve and the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, with a focus on lions, painted wolves and vultures. Working hand in hand with Botswana's Department of Wildlife and National Parks and local communities, he takes a landscape view of conservation, and under his leadership KRC has confirmed painted wolves in areas that were not previously on the species' range maps. He is deeply committed to building Botswana's own conservation capacity, and a number of local students have completed their masters and PhDs through KRC.

Back the research Glyn leads in the Kalahari
Glyn's team tracks lions, painted wolves and vultures across the Central Kalahari and the Kgalagadi, and trains the Batswana scientists who will carry that work on. Your gift funds the surveys and the students behind them.
