Conservation Researcher, Kalahari Research and Conservation
Changu Morelle
Changu joined Kalahari Research and Conservation (KRC) in September 2025 as an intern, bringing a degree in Biological Sciences and a strong scientific foundation to her first role in field conservation. She has since progressed into a conservation role, where she continues to build her skills while contributing to KRC's research and conservation work in Botswana.
African wild dogs, also known as painted wolves, are a particular focus of Changu's work, and she contributes to research on one of Africa's most distinctive carnivores through wild dog surveys. She also takes part in lion surveys, anti-poaching activities and wildlife data mapping in the Kgalagadi region, which gives her experience across many aspects of conservation. Her progression from intern to researcher shows the value of creating opportunities for emerging scientists to learn through direct involvement in the field.

Back the next generation of field scientists
Changu went from intern to researcher by working in the field: wild dog and lion surveys, anti-poaching patrols and wildlife mapping in the Kgalagadi. Your gift funds the places that give emerging scientists like her that start.
